Chasing his dreams comes with a price

The small clank of metal upon metal made Pascal grin. It had taken a long while, but he had finally done it. That glass jar taking up his cubby space by his bed was finally full to the brim with shimmering golden coins. He took any job he could over the past month since he grew up, cleaning dishes for alma, scrubbing the crayon markings off the walls, wyngling-sitting, he even did a bake sale to test his skills. To his delight, wyngrew loved his sweets! He could just feel the dream coming closer and closer into reality! Now all he had to do was build it. The tan wyngro had spent some sleepless nights doodling up concepts for his potential home. Many scrap papers tossed into the second cubby, designs he just never seemed to click with.

Pascal propped himself up against his pillow, a spiral in his lap and his Runeboo, Rufus, curled up by his side. Smiling softly, he scratched the runebabe's head and chuckled as he heard the soft, happy squeaks coming from his companion. He tapped his pencil against his chin, eyebrows furrowing in concentration. It had to be big. With his hopes for a large family, it had to at least house more than just him, Hanzo, and a now fully grown Mabel. The rooms were to be on the second story of the house, while down below would be the kitchen and what he hoped for the most....A Bakery. He'd find a way to make the first floor of the house into a bakery. A display case for his pastries and a small dining area for his customers if they chose to sit inside and eat, perhaps some tables outside for when it was nice and sunny. This time the pencil wouldn't stop on his paper, his ideas flowing like a river from his brain and onto the spiral in his lap. At last he was content. Soon his dream would come to life.

The next morning Pascal and his son, Hanzo, made their way into the town to find the carpenters. He shifted the heavy jar in his arms, strulgging a bit to keep a good grip on it with his stubby arms. Oh how he wished they'd grow a little longer...

"So...This is really happening? We're gonna move out of the Nook?" Hanzo piped up from his side, looking up at his father with those chocolate brown eyes. He couldn't help but smile at him.

"As soon as the place is built, yeah! We'll have our own place to live." He responded, excitement lining his voice as the two strolled down the cobblestone path. He wasn't...quite sure where to find the construction duo.... He only knew their names and that they lived somewhere close to town. Luckily, he didn't have to search far before he found a large cleared space of land with a pair of wyngrew setting up tools and lumber. That had to be them!

"E-Excuse me!" He called, stumbling over to the duo as his excitement and anticipation took hold over his mind. "Are you two the carpenters here?"

"We sure are! We've been buildin' since before you've been born, kid!" The gruff male answered in a raspy tone, a hoarse chuckle coming from his throat. "Name's Chester, that's Maple over there. How can we help ya?"

"I..Is this land taken..?" Pascal felt a lump forming in his throat, anxiousness now washing over his body. You can do it, Pascal, just talk!

"Well, not yet, technically.  We were prepping the area for a new home. Why?"

"I, uhm....Was wondering If i could purchase it...? I-I even have a concept sketch of what I have in mind! Please, i've been saving up quite a while...." He shakily handed the paper to Chester,  worried he might not have enough as he shifted the weight of the jar to one side.

"Well. Now that's an interesting build!" Chester muttered, examining the paper as he placed it on top of the plank he was preparing to saw.

"I say we give it a shot, hun." Maple crooned, wandering over to the male wyngrew after putting down a large tool-box. "My my- what a handsome young 'gro you are. You must've worked really hard to save up that much money, that's a quality a lot of females like~ A handsome boy like you must be swarming with girls!" She laughed, placing her claw under his chin.

"EhhhHehh....N...Not really, m-ma'am...I mean...Yes to the working hard....B-But n-no to the...g..girls....*ahem* uhm....I-I'm kinda taken by o-one girl...."

"Oh! And lookie here!" Maple looked down, noticing Hanzo clinging to Pascal's leg. He glared up at the blue wyngro as she flirted with his pa. "A father type, eh? Your girl must be awfully lucky-"

"OY! Maple! Stop scaring the customer, would ya?!" Chester bellowed, glaring hard at his wife who stepped away from Pascal.

"Oh lighten up! i was just making some small talk!" "Small talk?! FUH! You're getting up in this poor boy's face!" "I am not! I'm just making some friendly conversation! He's fine!"

Pascal shifted his tail to rest on Hanzo's back, a little unsure as the couple started to bicker back and forth with each other. "Uhm...Sorry to interrupt, but.....C-can you do it?"

"Huh?" The couple pulled themselves away from their argument, laughing heartily as if that whole thing didn't even happen. "Well sure! You might need to pay a little more later on, but this is perfect for the starting costs, kid."

"R-really? Oh thank you!" Pascal dumped the coins into a tin box that Maple had close to the tools. "This is the best news, thank you SO much!"

"We'll make your place a reality, just you wait and see. Where can we find you to let you know when it's ready to move in?"

"I live at the Nook currently....My name is Pascal. Thank you again! I honestly can't thank you enough!" He eagerly shook their hands, eyes lit up in pure delight as he had to restrain himself from jumping up in the air. Finally, his dream was coming true!

WELP. This was fun lol. I had to do it since i've been planning on pascal buying a house for the longest time but then when the NPCs were revealed i just had to draw them lol xD I love them so much
